Rachel Finkelstein is excited for another year at Woods Charter School! Prior to joining the faculty at Woods, Ms. Finkelstein taught English and creative writing at the University of Montana. This year she will be teaching English II, English IV, and AP Literature and Composition. She holds an M.F.A. in creative writing and a graduate certificate of women and gender studies. She received a B.A. from Columbia College in poetry and English studies.
Ms. Finkelstein values authentic, differentiated assessments that give students the opportunity to show what they have learned by engaging in creative and critical thinking. The goal of her teaching is to help all students become open-minded, global thinkers who value creativity, intellectual curiosity, and civic responsibility.
She lives in Durham with her husband and her cat, Oz. Besides reading and writing, Ms. Finkelstein enjoys Vietnamese food, podcasts, and space heaters during the winter months.
